So I'm cosplaying Jubilee from X-Men for Otakon. The original plan was to cosplay Asami from the Legend of Korra. But I've really gotten into X-Men and while I love Asami and think her hair and makeup is really pretty, she wears pants, most likely made of a thick material, tucked into boots, with a jacket. I'm much less likely to die of heat stroke in Jubilee's tank top, shorts, and cuffed jacket.
For the tank top, I'll probably get a few from Wet Seal and take advantage of their 5/$25 deal on basics. Then I'll make a stencil and just paint on the X logo. The shorts I can get just about anywhere. I found a pair of sunglasses on Amazon with pink lenses. They're D&G knockoffs but they get the job done. I'll paint the frames with some pink nailpolish.
The jacket will be made of some sort of heavy cotton. Possibly a twill, canvas, or denim. It all depends on what I find at the store and comes in yellow or a white that I can dye. I'm thinking right now to have a lining of broadcloth so it's thin and doesn't reflect any camera flash. If I wear this for Katsucon, I'll see about adding a removable lining.
I'm working on the shoes. I found some cheap boots on K-Mart's website that I might get. I'm also thinking of high-top Vans because there's an outlet here and their prices are pretty awesome.
Hopefully some thrifting will be happening for the gloves.
Lastly, the jewelry. My reference has her wearing these dangling hoop earrings with a horizontal bar. Trying to think of ways to do that without weighing my ears down. Then an X logo pendant.
I got this! I'm pretty excited. Maybe might even go to Baltimore Comic Con if I can pull this off....Art by *Atomic-Clover
